I am Stephen Clive Fletcher (SCF) and back in 1985 I left the Merchant Navy and embarked on my haulage career. At first, I was involved with delivery for the first time as a Co-op Milk Man. This I thoroughly enjoyed, I think it was the freedom to work alone as sort of your own boss! I then proceeded on to work for Tuffnells Parcels Express and got my first taste of driving lorries.

Although initially, these were only 7.5t box vans on multi-drop, I decided that I would like to venture out into the world of HGV vehicles. I passed my Class 1 C+E Licence on 12th September 1989 and started night trunking with Nexday Parcels to gain experience. I went on to work at Curries of Dumfries, P&O Distribution, Arjo Wiggins, Wincanton, and eventually, I set myself up as a Limited Company Driver.

Many years and experience came with working for nearly every supermarket and haulage company in the Bristol area. I attained my Management CPC National & International in April 2004 but eventually put this to use as a Transport Manager in April 2008 for a friend's Haulage Business, which I have been running ever since. In 2008, I decided to start my own Limited Company Business and SCF Transport Limited was born. I started with 1 lorry and a rental trailer, the business has expanded and we have had the opportunity to work with many of the UK’s Haulage companies and various other businesses on general haulage.

During the Pandemic (Covid-19) we were kept very busy so much so that I was able to help with supplying work for a further 2 local haulers who were left with nothing as the bulk scrap business ceased. They are now both still in business and back on the scrap. We have expanded into covering ADR Specialist work (carriage of dangerous goods by road) and this is the direction we hope to take the company forward.
